I think I noticed you have the R50 Mike.... mine broke eventually... but that one's a classic.


I had bought the MZ-R3 in 1986 with MDR-CD1000 babes to go with it...and dropped it. Sony tried THREE TIMES to fix it and could not. (Don't talk to me about Sony service!) So after I had paid for the repair they eventually offered me the R50 for a nominal extra payment. I LOVE IT! There was always a little residual hiss with the R3 that is completely absent with the R50. Alas, the R50 would not drive the CD1000's, so I sold them and got the D-77's from an acquaintance in Hong Kong.

1996? I'd love to be able to get an R50, as it has a dedicated line-out and and that Vertial-Jog dial.

Check ebay, i got one for roughly $80 in great condition a while back.

Check e-bay. About $100 will get you one now. A couple of years ago it was $150.
