After signing up for Earthlink DSL, my dialup service completely died and it took one month for the DSL activation. Then the DSL connection worked poorly. Now it's mostly fixed, but there are lots of servers that I can't access (mame.net, zophar.net, ford.com, geocities.com, etc.).

On the other hand, DSL speed is very fun.

What happens when you go to DOS and try to ping GEOCITIES.COM? Do you get name resolution to an IP address? And if so, do you get any ping response?

One thing that helps is to enter the IP's of the DNS servers into your TCP/IP settings, rather than letting them be automatically assigned.
