Hello, all!

Just recently purchased these headphones. Thinking of trying out the soft velour ear pads if I can find proper replacements.  I called AT and they recommended the ear pads from the ATH-AD500 model.  After I had already placed the order, I looked at some images online...and they don't look like velour. (-_____-)

Has anyone ever tried or found velour ear pads for these?  I've seen posts about people replacing them with leather, but nothing on velour.  Whatever this stock material is...it kinda itches. (x_____x)  I might end up returning them and trying out the HD598s or DT990 instead, although not sure if this is a side-grade, up-grade, or down-grade.

Thanks a bunch!

I use Hifiman HE Velour ear pads on my ATH-A900X (closed) headphones.
They usually sell for $10+tax/shipping.
They are just a few millimeters smaller then the Audio Technica ear pads.
So they take a little work to put on, have to use one of the two indentations on the cups and slowly twist the ear pads.

Have you gotten around to trying the HE velour pads, how are they? I have a pair of ATH-AD900X myself and am looking for a velour replacement pad as well.

The Hifiman HE Velours ear pads work fine on my ATH-A900X (closed) headphones.

I never went through with replacing the ear pads, and I'm not sure if it's the exact same doing so between the open-backed vs closed-back model. If PurpleAngel or anyone else can assure that it should be ok whether it's open vs closed, then that would be great.

For me, I ended up taking a stab at the Philips Fidelio X1 and decided to keep those instead.  I didn't want to take a chance on replacing the ATH-AD900X pads, screwing up, and then not being able to return them.

Regarding the X1: the overall design looks beautiful, the diameter of the ear pads fit over my ears very well, they are slightly deeper i.e. my ears aren't grazing against the grill on the inside (unfortunately, this was causing discomfort for me on the ATH-AD900X) AND they come in velour.

Hi I am looking to buy replacement ear cups for the audio technica (closed back) ad900x's and I was wondering if you knew of any memory foam earcups that would fit them I can't seem to find.
