Got reply from ibasso( Wow that is real fast.)

Hi,

Thank you for your email.

The USB driver is not ready.  We are now working on it.  We should able to release the driver very soon.
Sincerely

iBasso Audio

Lol, that made me laugh. What's the point of releasing the firmware if the driver is not ready yet.

I guess when I'll get mine, assuming I won't cancel or return it before that. I am going to plug it on my Mac and test it. It should connect right away. To be honest not too thrilled about their response. This should be available out of the box.

I suppose it will work right away on MacOS X. They just have not done the drivers for windows yet.

I ended up ordering a DX90 yesterday.  I originally was interested in the AK100 but the impedance issue steered me to the X5 and DX90.  I remember Jamato8 from his sage advice in the past and decide to take a chance on the Ibasso.  I am pairing it with my JH13 and Roxanne iem.  My sources up to this point has been recently Cowon S9, Sansa clip +, and BB Z10 using Neutron app.  I'm a musician, bass player.  I started out this adventure with Archos first mp3 player years ago.....scratch that, when I was about 7 years old and had what was called a "show n tell record player".  It had a film strip that would advance as the record played.  My parents had a restaurant, and we had a jukebox.  I'm not sure how it worked, but after a certain period of time, the owners of the jukebox would replace the records and would give us the old records.  Here I was a 7 year old with 100's of 45's for my enjoyment!  I still remember the very first 45 I played, it was Paul Mccartney and Wings, side A was Jet and side B was mamunia.  It might have been low fidelity, but that sparked an interest in music that lives on to this day.

I too have an aging Cowon S9 32GB which I'd like to replace (because of limited space) - thinking seriously about the FiiO X5 or the iBasso DX90.  Just curious, how would you compare the S9 (with BBE sound) vs the DX90 without??  I've always been a fan of Cowon (because of BBE) - but everyone is saying that I on't miss it once going to the DX90 or X5 - What do you say??

Disappointing indeed. But at least USB DAC function will be coming for sure. I might be able to let ho of my hifi-m8. Simplifying my setup further.

The only problem is that you got no idea when, could be next month, in 3 months, a year who knows?

Hey the Calyx M is there for that.

Remember the saying one bird in a hand is worth two in the bush.

Lets just say iBasso better do it soon. This is one of the feature that many people are anticipating/expecting

Got it for an afternoon :) (I guess all of us beta pigs in HK received it this afternoon). While I'm not a believer in gear burn in, I would share my impressions after more time with it.

Got a feeling that 'You will receive Tracking info Tomorrow' might have been a stock response to my webmail yesterday?

Does the player automatically stop playing the song when the phone out and the line out are unplugged? (and not only the line out like the DX50)

FIIO is using the Thesycon driver but not XMOS?  You sure?

Further research it looks like they use the Tenor.  Interesting.
