DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

Disregarding price, is the DUNU Vulkan worth getting for something outside the typical budget category?
Some of the reviews make it sound like something really unique & interesting....a big, musical sound I guess, like you are in the middle of a giant concert hall.
But then other reviews make it sound like nothing special.

As far as sound quality, what level of earphone is it comparable to?
I was seconds away from purchasing it on sale last night, but couldn't pull the trigger.
Even on sale, it would be my most expensive earphone, so I want to make sure it's special & worth it.
Is an interesting IEM. The stage is nice, but it’s better to tame your expectations when it comes to soundstage. Speaking as a self-confessed soundstage addict, I can tell you that none of the IEM I have tried, even up to the fabled ones near the top of the market, sound like a concert hall or even a good pair of speakers on your desk. They always sound like a ball of sound inside or slightly around your head. Good ones can place instruments with pin point precision inside that ball.

If anything, the unboxing experience, packaging, and accessories of Vulkan would make you feel like you get something “upscale”, comparing to your existing gear in your signature.

I'm only concerned about the sound performance & fit. No interest in the unboxing experience.
Maybe I'll wait until a more obvious choice comes along. I keep going back & forth on this one....trying to convince myself.
I got the Vulkan stuck in my head for some reason.

In terms of soundstage, I hear the “ball of sound” that Vulkan makes as wrapping around the head in a U-shape, like an amphitheater around the ears. It’s a unique presentation to my ear, relative to what IEMs do

That ampitheater effect appeals to me. Plus I read it has a nice clear midrange even though it also has a good amount of bass.
Is there an earphone that has a similar affect, that people aren't so divided on?

This was on sale for $219, and I was so close to pushing the buy button.
I had recently bought something else though, and when I started adding my recent purchases together, I was feeling a little silly for spending so much on little earphones.

@DUNU-Topsound Is there an iem planned to be released in the future with a similar tuning to the vernus? Need better lower mids (male vocals) as I can't get my hands on the vernus lol.
We're thrilled with the success of Vernus, and it's awesome to see everyone enjoying it!

It's a bit tricky to pin down, Vernus being a limited run and all—we're pretty serious about that 'limited' tag. But you know how it goes, there's always something new cooking up at DUNU, fingers crossed for Vernus 2.0!

Stay tuned for exciting developments..

I thought the Falcon Ultra was a spiritual successor to the Vernus.

I thought the Falcon Ultra was a spiritual successor to the Vernus.
Vernus and Falcon Ultra rock an identical shell shape, but that's pretty much where the family resemblance ends.

While Falcon Ultra assumes the role of the successor to Falcon Pro in our model lineup, it is crucial to underscore that Falcon Ultra boasts its own distinct, innovative, and freshly tuned characteristics. This unique tuning has been meticulously crafted by our chief engineer, setting Falcon Ultra apart as an independent and forward-thinking addition to our product offerings :L3000:

This is great news! Please get this one over the line because in my 6 years journey of countless iems I have only found the moondrop kato sufficient for my male vocals requirements and have concluded that most iems are just not tuned well enough to suit them. Now the only other dd iem I know of that had that favourable type of tuning was the vernus but that iem went away faster then my chances of becoming an artist. 😂

On a serious note, your drivers are up there with the best in the business and it would be an instant purchase from me since your great driver tech along with a suitable tuning would most likely be the end game iem I have been looking for all along.

For $220, you should’ve bought Vulkan, bro

Waiting for my SA6 Mk2 to arrive!
On a sidenote, Dunu Noble remains my favourite IEM cable. One of the highest quality cables I've came across. Superb ergonomics too.
Kinda surprised there is much talk about it, probably due to high price and cable being discontinued. Itching to find Dunu Blanche now hehe...
Hey, how does it sound compared to other cables maybe from Effect Audio or Brise Audio?

Got my Dunu Talos. Prices are really low now and the sound is pretty good. Alittle bright at times but I quite like it.

Using Talos like a TWS. It works really well. Maybe a slight lost in sub bass compared to say a Questyle M15 but totally worth the cable-less experience
