Link first.

I saw these and went "HS, these are cool. They must cost $20k" Then I saw the price tag and thought that if they were any good, I might buy them. However, I can't imagine that for the price they are any good. It seemed like too much must have been spent on cosmetics and not enough on the speakers.

Anyone ever hear these?

Don't judge based on price. There are real bargains out there and this could be one of them, like the Magnepan MMG. Simple, painted MDF boxes are cheap and the drivers aren't exotic. If they cut back anywhere, it's probably with less expensive caps and iron core inductors in the crossovers. If you wanted, you could always drop a set of Alpha-Cores and boutique caps in there later.

Also, have you ever listened to an omni? They're different from what you're probably used to. I'd read up on them before buying - you might want to search for articles on MBL's speakers and there should be some DIY info on Ole Thofte's Conus I project.
