I finally received my dt990/600 and they sound awsome :D i went from 10$ walmarts---->dt990. They have good volume with just my asus xonar dx powering them. I was wondering if I should get an amp. Would it be a big difference? worth it?

Volume alone doesn't mean they're being driven well, and neither does clipping.  A small iPod touch can make them reach high enough listening levels and won't demonstrate any clipping.  What properly driving will do to them though will give more dynamics (ie soundstage, punch, crispness, instrument separation and layering etc)

Big difference depends on your music, source and own personal perception.  The most perceivable difference you'll probably notice is a difference in sound signature each amp can bring (especially tube amps with different tube sets).

I say it'd be worth it to consider something that can output a lot of voltage, but that's up to you.

Yes and yes :) The DT990/600s are 600 ohm headphones, and will respond well to an amp capable for providing enough volts. With my Schiit Lyr, they're very dynamic.

I listened to my 990/600 on the MKV and I wasn't specially impressed.
the better the amp, the better these headphones get. I love them in my setup

Of course this depends on your budget and your claims. For my ears the DT 990/600 Ω version just sounds wonderful with the Schiit Valhalla headphone amp.
