Would a downward facing cord work on IEMs?  Anyone know of a shop willing to mod their design a bit to accommodate it, as all the designs I currently see have over the ear (top facing) cord locations.  I'm hoping to find a shop that will hardwire the cord from my Jays a-JAYS Four headphones into a triple driver custom IEM, and at least one company has turned me down noting that modding their design would not be feasible.

Uhh.. well.. IEMs that are designed to be worn over-the-ear, are obviously, designed to have housings to be worn over-the-ear. That's why you can't just simply transplant a cable to an IEM with a housing that was designed for over-the-ear use in the first place.
Besides, wearing the cable over-the-ear is actually very comfortable as the IEM is kept in place much better, and also helps to eliminate any microphonics should it be present with the cable, and the a-Jays cables are very microphonic..
If I remember correctly, there is a company that makes customs which can be worn cable down (unfortunately their name has slipped my mind), but as for transplanting the a-Jays cable.. Is that really necessary? I feel that having detachable cables are a major advantage in prolonging the life of your IEMs, and would be of better quality.

Just my 2 cents.

Completely agreed, which is why I'm also trying to find someone who can re-terminate the cable from the a-JAYS Four and maybe extend it with a short braided section that I can wrap around my ears... but no luck on that front yet (hitting up beat audio who discontinued their iPhone Specialist and emailed Chris Himself, haven't heard back yet).  But if anyone knows the name of that company that had downward hanging cable custom IEMs I'd love to give them a ring.
