Does the standard of a 1/4 jack to 1/8 jack adapter make any difference?

Hello
Looking to get a 1/8 jack to 1/4 jack adpater. I have seen some that are very cheap. When connecting headphones to an MP3 player, does the standard of the adapter make any difference? ie, would a jack worth $3 be fine, or would it be better to spend slightly more?
Thanks

The general rule in connectors is to not buy the cheapest and unless you have a high end system don't buy the expensive ones either. On eparticular thing about the 1/8 to 1/4 solid adapter is the added strain it places on the tip of the 1/8 plug (Fulcrum/Lever stuff) so I recommend getting (or Making if you like to DIY) is a short 1/8 to 1/4 adapter cable. Grado makes a reasonably priced one.
