how long do they last.

We don't have sales very often. Occasionally there ar deals when we first introduce a product. Also, there is a page on our site for "Packaged Systems" that represents some money off.

Let's not not forget how Tyll supports Head-Fi though. He's very generous with goodies at meets too. And the service is fantastic!

Word! I have three coffee cups from them and you all know how much I love the Coffee. I also have some stickers my nephew had a ball with, lets say he thought it would be a great idea if he put HeadRoom stickers on my RSA amps..ha no he did not actually get to do it.

I have this Demo cd from HR when they came to a meet I hosted, to be honest the cd has played a key role in my speaker placement.

but the best idea is their cable wraps they give out at meets..keep your headphone cables wrapped up.

The Marketing dept over at HR really thinks of some cool and usefull stuff.

I'm interested in this subject as well.

Why don't headphone retailers/ producers have big sales, like black friday, etc? My will's strong enough to hold on to my wallet until the newest model come out, so that the previous models' price go down. But, don't they want to generate sales? The more promotion they have, I'm sure the more people will know the brands, etc.

I've never heard of any of these brands, Grado, Senn, Headroom, AKG, Beyer, etc, before I read Head-FI. The brand that I know for headphone, is only Bose. Ok, maybe these brands are high-end, and they target specific community, but don't they want to make people (who are not in the audio community yet) know that they exist? I like to surf internet, sometimes, but for those who don't, they'd have less chance of knowing this brands, meaning the less that they wanted this high quality audio, which also means less sales.

Yeah, there used to be a discount for contributing members but HR found that people were donating say, $20 to get a $200 discount which didn't seem like the best way to support the community.

Personally I'd rather have consistantly good service at a stationary price, than the blowout type sales at companies that can't hold a candle to Headroom's service. The mega super stores may have their place, but when it comes to audio I want a trustworthy company that is knowledgable and hassle free. If you want a company like Headroom to continue to exist you have to forget about that $1.95 you might save and support that company. Let's face it Tyll has played a very large roll in this hobby becoming what it is today. When he started Headroom the headphone amp selection was extremely limited to say the least. Not only does he offer an incredible product range, but he's inadvertantly responsible for the myriad of choices from other manufacturers that had no market for such products before Tyll made the market.

I'm not affiliated with Headroom in any way, and haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting Tyll, but I'm very impressed with his company, and their contributions to this hobby that I love.

In my opinion, hifi retailers make huge profit in the first place. So why dont they just give their customers some attraction and excitement by putting up some sales just like how the electronics retailers do it?

That's a hell of a generalization to make and generally speaking, wrong.

Large hi-fi retailers that sell Bose and Sony etc. They probably do turn a fair amount of profit. But places like Headroom or TTVJ, I don't think that they do. They have all the overheads and stock prices for this gear, same as any other shop, but these are specialist items for a specialist hobby and I can't imagine that they sell many each month.

This is just my view - I'm not affiliated with any of these people at all.

Most of the mega stores carry certain items that they sell in huge volumes and make very good profit from. Smaller boutique shops or dedicated shops like Headroom are selling a much smaller variety of specialty goods and don't do anywhere near the volume of the giant chains. I'm a carpenter, and if a customer asked me to give them a sale price or meet a large construction firms price I couldn't do it. What I can offer my customers is attention to detail and workmanship that is hard to find in a large firm.
