Does anyone know how to disassemble a pair of HD495's? My brother managed to break his pair and it seems the problem is in the connector (the cable is fine). From what I can see, the earcup can be disassebled, but I am a little unsure of who much force it will tolerate without breaking. Are there any tricks I should know about here?

Don't have those myself but are they not typical?

I mean, snap-off pads, screws under that, and a clip inside on the cord's strain relief piece?

If you are needing to subject it to stress to disassemble, heating the plastic a "little" should make it more flexible, less subject to cracking but I wouldn't think you'd need to do that.
