I had a question regarding DIGITAL OUT on my soundcard (TurtleBeach Santa Cruz). My particular model has a "VERSAJACK" which allows you to change how that one jack works. You can set it as an ANALOG OUTPUT, an ANALOG INPUT, or a DIGITAL OUTPUT. If I set it to DIGITAL OUTPUT, the onboard DAC should be bypassed as I am only using the card as a transport to an external DAC...right? For that matter, ANY soundcard's DIGITAL OUT bypasses the onboard DAC?

Yup.

Since it's digital out it's not supposed to get converted in to analog and that is what a DAC does. (for as far as I know it does)
