i was on the look out for some speakers but decided just to get a nice pair of headphones. i will be using them mainly on my laptop and desktop computer. my budget is 300-500 usd. the types of music ill belistenng to are hip hop(dont really care about the sound quality here Dt770 would probably serve me good) rock(have an ms1 and loving the trebles from the guitars) and classical(im just starting at this field)

im currently want to buy an ms2 and/or k701/2. any comments suggestions. i forgot, i would want some hd650 as well if i can get it for around 300.
and no, i wont be using no amps. too expensive and too much hassle.

if you aren't going to use an amp you need to look at different headphones

Pretty much, except for the MS2. Those 'phones (and Grados) are of low impedance, but again, if you don't care much for SQ, then you may want something like the AKG K 81 DJ instead. Right now you're choices are simply overkill.

You will need to look at Audio Technica, Ultrasone, Grado to. If you dont plan on an Amp.

thanks for the replies. it think they might be an overkill, marchingmule but i already have the k81 dj(the wires broke after acouple of months). when i said i sont care about sq i was referring to listening to hipphop, however i want something for classical and rock.

i currently looking on buying ms2 or 325i or s (still reading the threads for their diffrences)

townj can you give me the models to explore. and to brighten can you please elaborate on that.

i knew going in to these that these cans might require an amp so i guess im back on the drawing board.

if you're using k701/702 without an amp you are wasting their potential.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, (RA-1?), it's a POS cmoy encased in epoxy and a wood box.
