Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if anything from iBasso will work well with the D5000s? or any other USB DAC/Amp

Sorry I'm not sure as I don't own any of those offerings. I find the LX to pair very well with the Denons. I also recommended it to another headfier and he really finds it to bring balance to his Denon 7000s as well. He found the mid range to be lacking on the 7000s and the DACport LX cured that while maintaining great transparency. Its best to use the LX with a source that is neutral and won't add coloration to the sound, especially in the bass department.

I'm considering getting myself a pair of D2000's, just wondering if anyone is using them with a Matrix M-stage and in that case can share their experiences?

A quick unboxing video of the Denon AH-D2000 to show my appreciation!

I love these cans!

I'm thinking about getting some Denons, and was hoping you guys could chime in. There are a few on sale in the sale section here and I just wanted a bit of guidance. There are some normal D2000's for sale for $200, although I'd have to PM to see if he'll ship to Australia, but I've heard great things about the LA2000. There's one for $480, with a D7000 cable, which is a **** of a lot for a headphone for me, but for $20 more I can get a D5000 with custom APS V3 cable. There's even a stock D5000 for $45 less than the LA2000 and I'm just wondering whether I should go for the stock D2000's or fork out the extra money for D5000/LA2000, and what the difference between those 2 would be, if any (SQ)
My other thoughts were Ultrasone Pro 900, although I've heard all around the D2000 is better, although the Pro900 is supposed to have better bass, but I don't want to sacrifice overall SQ for bass that's a little better. The other Ultrasone was the HFI-780 with velour pads. The other one was the HE-4.

The Denon 5000s stock have a better cable and come with wood cups which improves the timbre. You also have more sub bass and less mid bass on the Denon 5000s. The LA2000 I think has different wood cups and probably a different cable. I'm not sure how they sound though. I own the Denon 5000s and modded them into open-back cans. I love the sound.

LA2000... You can do all the mods yourself if you search MarkL's thread, try keywords 'finest dynamic headphone' or 'MarkL mod' --- except the wooden cups and the cable that you have to buy.

So for me, if I do not believe in cable changes...
And doubting wooden cups would do much after you dampen them...

I bought a D2000 for 220 shipped to Sydney

Yes they are quite easy to modify. I turned my cans into open cans and find them so much better than stock now. I was able to test the modification out before making it permanent so in the event you don't like the sound you could easily go back to stock without it being permanent :)

I love my D5000.  It's stock, and I have no interest in modding it for now.  It's a very nice all-around headphone for a basshead.  Powerful enough for drum and bass, hip-hop and such, versatile enough for a more fun presentation of other genres, very comfortable, and looks amazing.  What more could you ask for?

Just got my "New In Open Box" D7000s from Electronics Expo. These are DEFINITELY to be considered new. The contents inside are definitely untouched, down to the 'tape' that covers the metal size adjustments. So anyone skeptical should feel 100% confident about getting their D7000s for a very cheap price through E-E's Amazon listing. I had bought a brand new D7000 last year from them, and it's in the same condition.

$585.... what a deal.

Just got these joints. Out of the box, I was a bit disappointed. But I was in a loud public place. Now that I'm in the silence of my room, they sound amazing. I'm listening to Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works, and it sounds mad lush through the D2000s.

I really feel the denons shine best with electronic music

Oh yes, I dunno if this has been mentioned yet, but the seam line on the outside of the pads should be next to the 'nuts'...

The pads do tend to rotate by themselves at times, and since they are tall on one end and skinny on the other, you could potentially ruin SQ balance if they aren't sitting right on your ears. I wish they were a little stronger... they are far too easy to rotate...

I fiddled with the pads a bit to really get a good seal, but it's still pretty close to the "nuts".

I read somewhere that because these cans are "low impedance" they need "high current" from an amping source.  Can someone explain what this means, and why this is?

I am looking for a new amp (hopefully under $500) for my D2000s so any suggestions would be great
