Thanks! A generous guy in my town offered me a used pair of D2000/5000 drivers for a very low price, warning me that they will sound slightly different (he is a headphone lover too). He was absolutely honest in saying so.

Does anyone know at what serial number they updated the D7000 in 2012? I’m trying to find one of the newer ones, but I’m not sure what to look for…
There’s a serial number on the box, but no date.

Basically if anyone knows they have the newer version, could you let me know what serial number it is on the box? That’d give me something to work from at least.

so I have decided to transplant my cups into a new frame as the padding on the original one are long gone.

I came across a post in relation to the original Lawton mo..

Does it make the phones better or just they sound different? THanks for the reply.

made detachable/balanced. I'm using MMCX connectors. Waiting for the headphone cup/driver mods from Lawton audio (I'm using stock cups).

- These are the MMCX connectors I used: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005001593330598.html (I picked option C).
- I also need to use some plastic washers so the connectors do not go through the hole. (This meant careful soldering and waiting for parts to cool down) as I was melting the washers.

Not to rain-over-your-parade but be caution! I've done similar mod and my plugs are too long. They rub the shoulders once everything are in place, even when the head's not tilting. Shorter plugs or forward-angle (ala LCD's: drill another set of holes away from 180-deg of the headband) would help. I went back to hard-wired; decided the mod's not worth the hassles.

in my case, I selected some short MMCX plugs.

Just completed the mod with mmcx cables (the mmcx connectors arrived this week) and the mmcx plug is only sticking out by around 10-11mm

I get the impression this is shorter compared to stock.

for anyone wanting to do the mod, I used this female mmcx panel mount (https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005699777571.html - short type).

I had to use some washers as the jacks are smaller than the cable entry hole. I have both metal and plastic washers. I decided to use plastic washers as they are easier (I can just melt the washers) to remove in case I messed up installing the jacks.

Hi Guys,

Proud owner of a pair of D7000. For almost 6 years these ones stays in a drawer, and I decided to restore them :) That being said the ring foam (Grey one) around the drivers are useless, it was so fragile that it distengrated in my hands :frowning2:...

Where can I find a replacement? I've looked every where and I could not find them.

Please help.

Thanks,
Gabi
