Hi, I just want to create a thread about D5000 to discuss the combination of it with the headphone amp. How do you hear the sound with your amp? what kind of music is it suitable for?
I hope this thread will help all new users of D5000 fall in love with the D5000 more.

hi waddragon. i usually listen to my d5000 using the hornet, as my solo doesnt seem to have a good synergy with it. with the hornet, i notice that the mids and highs are more clearer, and the bass is more pronounced, as compared to the solo. for my taste, i feel that i appreciate the the d5000 more with, at the expense of the bass. and yes, i'm still saving up for a desktop amp for the d5000, as i pair the solo with my hd650.

I am waiting for my GS-1 to arrive, until then I am using a Headsix... sounds decent, but I hope I will be able to crank even more out of it with a dedicated home amp. I'll post some comparisons when it arrives.

It is, and there are many threads on it. Try using the search feature. There are many answers to questions of recent threads you've started.

I have a D2000 and also have a Hornet, Xin Super Mini as well as a Portaphile. Sounds good but I been wondering how it would sound with a tube amp. Anyone check that out?

I'd like to see what other amps have synergy with the Dennon's. Also I did switch to low gain and it got much smoother and richer sound. I tend to prefer the Portaphile a bit more.

i read in the yamamoto thread that the d5000 have a good synergy with this amp, though only from a few people, no issues regarding the volume imbalance or humming

I've used D2000 and D5000 with Meier HA2 MKII SE, HeadRoom Desktop w/Home module, HeadRoom Max, HeadRoom Total AirHead, and even a few minutes with my Tomahawk -- the Denons sound just great with any of my amps. Each amp has its own *slight* SQ variations, of course, but nothing BIG, so to speak.
Basically, the Meier amp has slightly more highs than the HeadRoom amps, and the HeadRoom amps have slighly more bass than the Meier amps I've had or own now. Just the normal signature class for each brand.
Forgot to mention the tiny Tomahawk -- it sounds very closer to the Meier amp -- than it does to the HeadRoom amps -- really in-between the two brands overall.
And yes, as the price of the amps goes up, generally, so does the denon SQ get a bit better, too. Pretty much as expected.

Hey Sinsen, if you like crip, clean and detailed sound with good bass then you are going to love the GS-1. I had one with the stepped attenuator.

At the same time I had the GS-1 I also have a Stello HP-100. With this amp the sound was a little bit darker and vailed.

Now, I am using them with a Rudistor RPX-33 and I love the sound. The sound is more musical. Not as analytical as the GS-1 and with a toneful and controled bass.

Don't get me wrong i could live with the GS-1 forever. The only reason I changed was becuase I also bought the Edition 9 and were wating to pair them with the RPX-33.

I'm using the Woo Audio 6 with my D2000s. Sounds pretty darn good to me.

I may eventually upgrade my source, but for now, I have no real desire to make any changes to my setup.

d5000 with Musical Fidelity x-can v3 here.
Sound is very good.

I just received Herbie's audio ultrasonic 9 dampers for my 6922 tubes and cannot believe what I'm hearing with them.

If you have a tube amp, you can fine tune the amount of bass of the D5000 by placing the dampers in the middle or at the top. It is amazing. Note sure the markI mod is needed, really.

I was very skeptical about tube dampers, something like placebo. I was completely wrong.

My 2 cents.
