We have come to this, from years ago, only a few brands for Portable Dedicated Music Players. The same as Smartphones that are more than a phone now.
Nowadays with so many brands releasing the DAPs and Android OS which will stop supporting outdated hardware, why do we even have to stay with new Players that have 4-5 years outdated Smartphone SOC ?
Yes, we were fed to believe that SOC could degrade sound quality, and it makes senses some what technically. Now the problems are solved with FPGA Master within the chain and the Chinese Makers are all adopting it.
Shouldn’t we be getting DAP with Smartphone SOC like SnapDragon888 and so on ? So that the player can last much longer ? Do people few tired of buy DAC Chips AK4499EQ in the DAP this year and next year another DAP with AK4499EQ being released with an upgraded SOC ? Yeah Smartphone upgrades that way because new SOC is released every year, and even so, not everyone will upgrade.
Then what is the excuses of DAP makers to release 3k-4K devices with Old and sluggish SOC ? Don’t tell me a niche market , because that problem is solved with a little device that cost 2-3-4K even more expensive than any smartphone
