First of all, I must say that I was about to buy a Benchmark DAC1 for my Philips 720sa player in Thailand and also for the new Marantz SA8001 I was going to buy in Canada. (I currently spend six months a year in Thailand) Then I hear of this new Zhaolu 2 DAC which at a quater the price is able to compete or even beat the Benchmark! I also then am told that I cannot use the DAC1 for SACD playback even though it is a 24/192 DAC. I am interested in the DAC for SACD and redbook playback so here are the questions:

1. Is it true that SACD cannot be used with an outboard DAC even if it is a 24/192 DAC?

2. Is the Zhaolu a 96khkz or 192khz DAC?

1. SACD cannot be output out of 99.9% of transports. Most DACs are PCM based not DSD based.

2. Zhaolu 2.0 is 24bit and 192khz capable (it uses CS8416 receiver and 192khz capable DAC chips>
