Got lucky in that aspect that one of my collegues are going back to the states for x-mas holiday, and she has offered to bring me back something if I desired.
Lately I have been thinking about stax(2050) or Koss esp950, but I am hugely attracted to wood.
SInce both the D7000 and W5000 are available within my budget at amazon.com, which should I go for?
Do not have much of amping yet, but will buy that in addition.

As far as I have understood, the w5000 is much more amp dependant than the Denon.

I mentioned the D2000's, cause I consider them very good for money(without being wood).

Source is flac files through foobar -->keces 151--->(something in the near future)-->new headphones.

what to do?

(and the d7000 is close to 1750usd here, and the d2000 close to 600usd)

I haven't tried any of the headphones listed except for the D2000s, but I felt like they were the first quality headphone I've owned (I still love my Grados though).

I would go with the Denon's. They are my personal favourite can (even over my beloved RS1s).

The W5000s have really poor bass response and will only leave you disappointed (at least I was when I heard them).

Lucky for you, Headroom as a B-Stock D7000 for only $649! Quite a deal for such a great headphone!

W5000 have nice quality bass, not as much as D7000. The lack of bass on W5000 is usually you did not have a proper fit, bending the headband will increase fit and bass response.

Just a heads up regarding Amazon prices. In the last month the price for the Denon 5000's increased from $404.00 to $661.00 while the Denon 7000's remain near $650.00. IMO these prices will drop especially the 5000's.

I am a happy K701 owner where many users would consider them bass light (I don't think so), so I am not a bass head by any means. But, I do draw the line at the W5000s. Please appreciate that this is my opinion based on what I heard.

I think my attachment says it all about the lack of bass response on the W5000 and support what I heard. Again, just one man's opinion.

See that the d7000 went from high 600's back to msrp within 6 hours :frowning2: Bummer
Anyhow, have till wwekend to make my decision.
Appreciate your feedback

Guess it will be something in the denon camp, as closed is better for where I will use them.

hi,
Recommending the d7000. Tried the d2000 before buying mine but found the bass too dominating and tiring in the long run. The d7000 has also a very deep but tighther bass in comparison. Try a search on this topic as there is alot of threads. Keep and eye on Amazon as it change all the time.Alternatively you can get it sent directly to Norway. You will most probably be hit by norwegian customs but it is still very favourable compared to Norwegian prices.Good luck....

Great to hear it

, I love my d2000 and hopefully you will to (or d7000). The only thing to keep in mind is that even thought they are closed, they still leak and let a lot of sound in; it is better than open though. Just don't get your hopes up for extreme isolation.

JMoney pads improve the D7000 isolation considerably.
