Connecting via cd cable

Is there an audible difference when connecting a dvd drive direct to the sound card instead of it going through the mobo? It would be a NEC 1100a to a AV-710.

You should never use that lil cable that connects directly to the soundcard, that is only still there for legacy compliancy (old hardware).

You should also rip your audio instead of playing it off the cdrom, rip to FLAC lossless it is better than playing audio off your cdrom.
