Closed basshead headphone suggestions? <$1000

Most closed backs with fat bass suck. If you listen to electronic music mainly get a HD25.
Can you elaborate on that? Too voiced? Like V-shape? Most audiophiles hate the Ultrasone Pro 900 and the V-shaped headphones. For some reason it seems to work alright without sounding synthetically bassy and off imho, but taste is different.

I can't seem to find any danish, european, german stores that carry Fostex, but if anyone knows I'd be grateful to save that link :beerchug:
I found https://www.megaaudio.de/produkte/index.php but they don't seem to have TH-X00 nor TH-600

After googling i found out the TH-X00 is a massdrop/drop product. as far as i know they ship only from the US, and dont have any resellers in the rest of the world.
About the TH-600 i found this
https://geizhals.eu/fostex-th-610-a1469320.html
if you scroll down there are at least 3 german resellers that have them in stock. Or is the TH-610 totally different from the TH-600?

Very mixed reviews it seems or subjective:

https://www.whathifi.com/us/fostex/th610/review
  • Need more clarity across the range
  • Tonally too focused on the bass
  • Harsh treble
  • Could be more insightful

https://www.headphones.com/community/reviews-learning-and-news/fostex-th-610-review
Compared against the nearly identically sized Fostex TH-X00 headphone from Massdrop outfitted with mahogany gloss-lacquered earcups, the sound between the Fostex TH-610 and the TH-X00 is very nearly the same in the mids/highs. However, the Massdrop TH-X00 offers a much bigger low-end kick that adds a lot of slam to the bass response, but which can also be a bit over-exaggerated and almost verging on the boomy at times. Big bassheads may gravitate toward the TH-X00 but we feel the Fostex TH-610 is likely the better balanced, more evenly toned headphone.

Right now I'm also considering to buy from drop.com, very interested in the Sennheiser 6xx, because they sell for 220$ instead ofthe HD 650 thats 335€ over here which is pretty stupid. If i go with the 220$ from US i'll have to pay + 19% import-tax.
I feel betrayed by Sennheiser sitting in my same country but charging me so much more. :unamused:

thomann is one of the most renowned resellers in germany. you can definitely trust them.
Also 30 days money-back guarantee.

Yeah my DJ friends loved them! Big shop for sure and great prices.

I'm kinda torn on the TH610. It seems like it divides people a lot.. Z-Reviews liked the 610 more than X00, but he didn't seem overly impressed.. He seemed totally impressed with the Campfire Cascades.. I've seen many had an issue with the headband on here and thats a concern too if its not comfortable. Whats really appealing to me about the Campfire Cascades is that most people say that they still have great mids even if the bass is punchy and big, that seems rare.

Can't wait to try out the DENON D7200, he mentioned them as well if it was those he referred to when he said "THE DENON". They are a bargain too at that price. After that I believe I'm ready to make a decision.. If I'm not impressed by the DENON D7200 I'll chance the Cascade Campfire and evaluate whether I like the headband/comfort and sound (and design 🤥)

Certainly very much alike..

Btw: TH-X00 is discontinued thats why you can't find it for sale anywhere.

Grab the Kennerton Magni. It sounds significantly better than any Fostex or Fostex variation. Excellent sub and mid bass without all the typical mess that bass heavy closed backs often present. I've owned the TH-610, D7200, and E-mu Teaks. Not even close imo. More musical, better clarity, more detailed, and not V shaped. You can also look at the Kennerton headphones from Underwood Hifi. A little less expensive, and will ship anywhere I believe.

Because more neutral? I can't find anywhere in europe that sells Kennerton from first searches.

Yeah strange tuning together with middling technicalities. They are just not worth the money and not competitive with open backs.

Look at Underwood Hifi. Because the mids aren't scooped, the highs are not piercing like a lot of the Fostex, nor are they subdued, and the bass is still very present - fast, layerd, and hits hard.

What i almost forgot about:
Since you are from denmark. Have you checked these out? Its a danish brand.

Also here (head-fi)
They have a rather interesting product-approach. All parts are modular and easily replacable/upgradable.
I was about to purchase one some time ago, but the not-completely ear surrounding pads held me back. I came to listen to them aswell in a store some months back and the version with HD-drivers (there are different ones) was actually not bad. They definitely have a bit too much mid/upper bass too but i found it still acceptable, mids and highs were also alright. I think they are mainly for electronic music.
I dont know if they compete in any way with the other suggested models in this thread, or maybe only for special purpose (they are actually adverstised as dj-headphones). Ive also seen them in vinyl-stores.

I will be violated by customs for ordering from Underwood Hifi (US). I should have paid like 1600kr for Leckerton Audio UHA6S.MKII ended up payng 2500kr incl customs+tax.. really sucks

What would an Audeze LCD-2 closed run you? These are my bass headphones and can be as bass-heavy or tonally balanced as you want them to be.

Gotta also mention another option for bassy closed-backs Campfire Audio Cascade, like others in this thread have mentioned. I wish the Fostex TR-X00 was in stock regularly.

There are some outlet models around 930 usd. I could test them out while trying the DENON.

Yeah I found them! They sound right up my alley .. How Z-Reviews described them as closed backs that sound like IEM and incredible bass without suffering totally on the mids and highs. I think TH-X00 is discontinued from what I could figure out via google (https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/muh5xz/why_were_trx00s_discontinued/) (https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/i4ptix/discontinued_trx00s/)
