ack,
I just got my Grado RS-1's about a month ago, and they're already chipping and scratching in a couple of places...I haven't mistreated them, they seem awfully delicate. Is there any way to fix this? are there at least markers that someone has tried to smooth over the chips?

You can use markers if you'd like, but be prepared for an increasingly shiny, glossy sound. You may not like this.

Seriously, though, Vka complained to me how Grado places all their RS-1 headphones housing-up in the box; that is, where the two holes are for the headphone cups, they have the wooding driver housing sticking out instead of the foam earpads. If you do as Grado does, opening and closing the box may scratch the wooden driver housing. Make sure to keep the foam earpads pointing up when replacing the RS-1 in its box.
