I rarely listen to my ATH-AD900X away from my computer where I use a Fiio E10.
 
That said, i do sometimes want to listen in the living room and need something to drive these as my Galaxy Note 2 can't quite do the trick.
 
Any suggestions?

if you like the E10, then why not try the E07 or E07K?  i dont think you'll find much cheaper than that, plus they sound good.

I would say a Fiio E11 or Fiio E12, connect it to the headphone output jack on the Galaxy Note 2.
You might be able to get away with using a Fiio E6 ($27)
The PAV2V (Pocket Amp. 2 version 2) amplifier, $66.30, can work as a portable or AC powered amp.
 
If the Galaxy Note 2 can output digital audio thru it USB port, then maybe a Fiio E17.
 
Just because a device can transfer digital audio files thru the USB port does not mean it can play digital audio thru the USB port.
I just have no idea either way on the details of the Galaxy Note 2 USB port.

Well I'm leaning toward the E07.  Unfortunately I'm getting too many conflicting reports whether it will work with the Galaxy Note 2.
 
Also, anyone know if Amazon has a mini to micro USB OTG?  I can't find one.
