A True Vacuum Tube DAP— N3Ultra features a Gen3 vacuum tube circuit with dual JAN6418 tubes.

Trickle-down Flagship Technology— N3Ultra adopted the technology from Cayin’s flagship DAP N8II, equipped a custom-designed CNC-machined center frame, revised shock absorption silicone housings that provided better protection to each JAN6418 independently, and a “screwless” vertical-mounted installation.

No Compromise in DAC Circuit— The N3Ultra uses two pieces of AK4493S from AKM as DAC. A powerful FPGA has enabled the DAC to decode up to 32bit 768kHz in PCM and 22.5792MHz (DSD512) in DSD.

Parametric EQ Enabled—N3Ultra allows up to FIVE bands in the PMEQ section. Each band is equivalent to a digital filter that enables you to shape the sound output of the DAP.

I'm hardly an OS snob, but Android 8.1 is downright archaic at this point. That said, it's the only real hang-up I have on an otherwise interesting looking DAP. Does Cayin have any intent to update the software at some point down the line?

Since this DAP is NOT running an open Android, and one cannot install apps - I see no issue with that!
Only an issue when you're trying to install an app that does not support Android 8.1 any longer...

Fair enough. My main problem is that my audio app of choice, Musicolet, doesn't seem to work well with my Hiby R5 Saber, which runs Android 8.1. Then again, that might just be because of the cheap, crappy SoC Hiby used, so maybe the Cayin N3Ultra will perform better?

Never heard of Musicolet... My preferred player is UAPP.
Cayin N3Ultra uses a modern processor, and the UI was very responsive when I played with it at CanJam NYC recently.
