I totally agree with this. :p

I'll add an example of what my reactions were like when hearing both 80s and 325s at my first meet. I put the 80s on, listened for a few minutes and my response was: "Yeah... they're alright". I later tried the 325s and my response was more along the lines of "HELLS YEAH!!! *grin*", and I ended up hogging them for at least the next half hour or more :p
Admittedly the 325s were fed by a decent DAC and a Lisa III XP, whereas the 80s were straight from an iPod... but the 325s still decimate the lower models when it comes to metal.

I haven't actually had a chance to compare them side-by-side, there haven't been any 325is at any meets since the first I went to. On top of that, mine are actually MS2i drivers but in a 325 housing (the original black ones), so I don't know if they're more like a stock MS2i or stock 325i.
I remember the 325i being quite sparkly, but still having great bass extension. Not a heap of bass by far, but it was definitely there and satisfying for me. I think the MS2i I have are not quite as sparkly, but still very engaging and a lot of fun.

@pez,

If you have $270 max, does that cover the new amp too? Why not just build/buy another CMOY, this time with its own volume knob, and an LOD, and an SR225?

Or try an Icon Mobile first, both with the iPod+LOD and your PC via USB, with the SR60.

Let's say I can't buy Grado's.  I'm in Spain for a month and on the way to a museum today, I believe I saw a headphone shop...I know Grado's are only (legally) sold in the U.S., but what I couldn't get Grado?

Well I have my perfect IEM's for metal/hardcore/etc.  And those are my TripleFi 10's.  It's honestly the sweet spot I've found :D.

Well I ended up getting some Grado SR325's.  Great deal on them as well and below the budget aforementioned :)  Now I just gotta wait until I get back to enjoy them :p.

 The owner has 325's, but he sent them to Grado for a driver repair and they put 325i drivers in it :).  So you guys honestly think a cMoy or even straight out of my X-Fi XtremeMusic will do fine starting out?
