I've done the beyer pad mod (poorly) to my Sony V6. The foam covers over the drivers are loose and a bit scrunched. The bass has become boomy, offensive. Please, just tell me that having the foam taut will remedy this!

Or else, are the covers too thick?--thicker they are than the stock foam. Or the big velour pads?

The foam could change the sound a bit. Don't be afraid to pull on the ear pads a bit and use your finger to tuck the foam under the pads better. I had to do that for a pair of 7506's I had.
