Hello guys,

This is my first post in head-Fi forums! After reading a lot of reviews I decided that the akg 240 mkii would be a nice introduction for me in the world "good" headphones, since I come from some "basic" akg 512s, which I found to be pretty solid and enjoyable ones.

The problem I face is related with whether or not these headphones can be driven by my sound card, which is an old Creative Sounblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series. For the time being I can't afford buying a separate DAC...

So the million dollar question is: Will I be able to take advantage of the 240s, or I'll be disappointed?

Thanks in advance!

You will be fine, just enjoy the music and don't strain too hard!

X2... Those are the 55 ohm model right?... Like the older k240s. I never found that headphone terribly difficult to amp / source. Although it is just detail revealing enough to benefit from upgrades upstream. I frequently use mine out of my denon HT receiver great cans.
