Hi guys,

I just bought the ibasso D14 and i am planning to use it with a MP3 player.
Because the D14 has a nice dac ,  i would like to use it with my dap.
Is this possible ? because usually the mp3 players only have lineout,
Is it possible to use some kind of cable ?

Thanks

It depends on the player. Some have digital output, like the Fiio X3/X5.

Why not use your smartphone? The D14 was already conceived for such use.

You can tidy up the cables and keep the display upright by using a sync dock.

thanks for the suggestion.

I think i will use the digital output from my dx50 and connect it to the digital input of the D14.
That should bypass the internal dac from the dx50 correct ?
Thanks.

I already have a dx50, so i can go easy on the wallet for now.

Yes. Use the digital coaxial cable that came with the DX50. I think the D14 might have come with one as well.

Yes, that would bypass the DX50's DAC. The question really is why. The DX50 was already made to have a good DAC section and a decent amplifier stage anyway, barring higher impedance or lower sensitivity headphones. And it's not like back in the iPod days when an external amp can save on the iPod battery while it may have swappable 9v batteries, considering one of the design features of the DX50 is that it uses Samsung Galaxy S3 batteries that can be swapped easily.

Well, if you didn't have the DX50, you can go easy on the wallet by just using the smartphone as a transport once you get to a desk.

Since you have the DX50, the best way to go easy on the wallet really is to just use it. I mean, what are you using it with anyway? If you're using an HE-5 even the D14 isn't going to be enough anyway.

I want to bypass Dx50 because the D14 had a good dac and amp.

The DX50 has a good DAC, and a useful enough amp.

Im going to use it with the ZMF omnis.

Whether you'll see any improvements will depend on the sensitivity and impedance of those headphones. And I can't even find those specs on the ZMF Omni pages. So it might help, maybe.
