Beyerdynamic DT990 600 ohm, 250 ohm or 32ohm?

Yes this is true, that's why I always recommend cmoy amps for the 250Ohm DT's. I had a cmoy that ran off 4 9v's and it powered the 250Ohm better than the ibasso I tried.

As far as I understand, more voltage is better for higher resistances.  That would be a good route!  I don't remember how the T3D powered the 250 ohm.

Also cheaper for experimentation. :D

Yes I know you did not want to get another cmoy, but rather an upgrade, but IMO only 9v powered amps like cmoy's will do them justice. They have more juice for higher impedance cans than many other portable amps can supply.

Like I said try to get a amp that runs two or more 9v batteries. I had a amp that used 4 of them and really made my old 250Ohm DT880's shine from a portable source.

hmm so i guess ill just stick another 9V onto my cmoy and wait till i can get the headstage arrow :)

btw can the dt 990 pros handle loud volumes and huge amounts of bass? thats partly why im upgrading from hd555 :D

With a cmoy at higher volumes, the bass may clip as it might run out of power reserves for the DT990. Lower volumes should be fine as it's less draw on the battery.

No no the cmoy would be fine but it would drain the battery faster with higher volumes. It's just that the louder you go with the DT990's, the more voltage they will require and that would strain the amp if it does have the voltage needed thus draining the battery much faster and then causing clipping as the battery becomes low.

The 250Ohm DT990 should do fine on it but just don't ply it too loudly. Also do not connect more than one 9v battery to it if the design does not use it.

Like I said it will work but louder volumes will drain the power faster. You should get 10-15 hours out of that battery if memory serves me correctly.

Just go with the other amp you were looking at. It may work better than a CMOY in the end. I ahve been out of amped portable audio for a while now so I'm a bit rusty.

Loving my 990s so much, I feel like getting the 32ohm version for portable use whenever I'm away from my desktop setup.

You know you love a headphone when you'd buy a second one...

so i checked with the supplier of my cmoy amp and they say it can even run 300Ohm cans but with lower battery life. i didnt really beleiev so i have checked the reviews given for it and it seems that quite a few people are using em for 250 Ohm cans and are quite happy :)

thank ya all for ur help :)
