What were the hybrid pads like with the dt880?I actually got the elite hybrids to try with my dt880 when I eventually get them back from a friend.
Trying them on the dt1990 I found the soundstage and comfort to improve, but I found cymbals and sibilence in general unbearable.
I like both the analytical and balanced pads but I simply can’t listen to the elite velours. I also have some tygrs here so I am going to play around with the foam in front of the driver from the tygr on the dt1990, might even try the tygr pads on there.
Why not? . Worst case I go back to the stock pads that I like anyway

Still haven’t got my 880s back yet. Hopefully soon
Not yet no. I dance between daps and pc and work laptop so try not to use eq (not because I am against it, just because of being able to consistently) but I might dig it out of the thread and try it. I do love the feel of the elite velour pads so if I can use them I would be keenDid you try my EQ with the DT-1990 + Hybrids?

In case anyone is wondering, it's easy to change the foam discs without removing the earpads from their rings. I used a plastic wedge like tool, so as not to scratch anything, and inserted it between the ring that the pads are stretched over and the cups, the rings should separate without much coaxing. To put them back on, line up the small tab with the notch on the cups, it shouldn't take much pressure pop them back in once it's lined up.

About to list my 1990s + dekoni pads on the board if anyone is interested.
These were my last try at over the ear cans and I just can't wear them with glasses. Just sticking with IEMs since they are getting so good.

I wear glasses too. The trick is to have frames with flat stems on the ends. Most have a bulb, and that's the part that gets uncomfortable.About to list my 1990s + dekoni pads on the board if anyone is interested.

I've been off this board for about 8 years after being pretty active here. I've owned the LCD-2 when they first came out, the HD-650, RS-1e, DT880 pro, AKG-702, list goes on. Life got in the way and I haven't had any real gear since. Well I got the itch again and after a bit of research bought a pair of DT-1990 pros as an impulse buy a week ago. I gotta say I can't remember being this impressed by a pair of cans before outside of maybe the LCD-2. They've completely sparked my love of music again. Very happy with these as my new favorite headphones. Excited to see how these open up with amp/dac combo.
May I ask what amp you use to drive them?I gotta say I can't remember being this impressed by a pair of cans before outside of maybe the LCD-2. They've completely sparked my love of music again. With the 1990s? No amp/dac at the moment. Just straight out the Mac. I was using a Burson HA-160 with the LCD-2s and other gear in the past. Do you know if the Drop+THX AAA 789 would be a good fit to drive these?

I'm not who you quoted there but I find the 1990 to be very surgical and clean with the my 789, almost 'skin and bones' lean. I personally prefer it with my Emotiva A-100 and its 220-ohm output impedance that puts some roundness on the low end and tapers the highs ever so slightly.
