I bought these headphones about a month ago and they've been great. I paired them with a Fiio E6 portable amp, and that has been my portable set up since. I've been keeping them in a Slappa hardshell case that fits the headphones alone pretty well, but trying to fit that 10 ft. cable in there is just a PAIN! So...I finally got up the courage to take them apart and install a 3.5mm jack in them. I got 2 jacks (one was a spare) from radio shack for a couple bucks, some 62/36/2 solder and I already had the soldering iron. I had to use a Dremel rotary tool to file down the place on the inside of the can where I would be mounting the jack so it would fit. If I did this again to the same headphones, I would get a jack that was a little slimmer and round, instead of the square one you can see in the pictures. I had some 3M foam pad things that were sicky on one side to fill the little bit of a gap on both sides of the jack so there wouldnt be more ventilation in one can than the other.
Maybe everyone will think I'm cool because it looks like I have Beats! TROLLOLOL
It should be so much easier to carry these things around now. I used to have the cable wrapped up and twist tied in a ball right before the amp, this is going to be so much more clean looking. Hope these pics help someone get the courage to do this to their DT770's!
