Rockboxed Gigabeat F. Yep, it's true - beats out all the other players I've ever owned (even my EQ-tweaked Cowon S9, albeit just barely).

Had to really fiddle with the EQ settings to get it just right, however.

If you don't care about money I give you the final recommend, which are called "four magic": sony d50, iMOD, kenwood d9, B&O 2 as ufo in common. They have the best sound as MP3 player, and their prices are also fantastic haha

I can't find anything on the Kenwood or the B&O. Anyone have any links?

Do not know about the B&O, but this is the first time i see such truncated version of kenwood's model name. Full name is HD60GD9, it can easily be googled.

I recommend a 5.5 G diymod/Imod with a capable amp. Probably the best I've heard yet. I prefer it to my X Walkman, Sansa Clip, AMP3 and the HD5 that I've owned in the past.

If you value portability though and tend to go ampless, the X takes my vote.

I doubt Amp3 can be the best. I've just heard the Pro 2 version and the hissing is not that bearable.
