Best smart phone with AT&T?

I don't miss flash too much. A much bigger issue for me is, for example, viewing H-fi on my iPhone, then noticing that "Save 98% at Musician's Friend!!" banner. Click on it, and all you get is the home page of their mobile site. With of course no (obvious) way to get to the deals on their ad.

So if either phone platform has an app (or browser setting) for this, I'm quite curious. Who wants to pay for all this multimedia & web capability, just to get dumbed-down web pages that were designed for a Palm Treo? Or if the issue is saving on bandwidth, at least give us an option!

What headfi needs is a tapatalk feature or something. It's terrible to view on mobile web. Most forums have it. I don't see why this one doesn't given it's heavy marketing and investment.

Or maybe there's a better way that I don't know about. I have to pinch zoom and all that to view the forum.

Am I correct that videos on websites other than youtube are not viewable on the iphone4? My biggest issue is reading an article and not being able to see the video embedded in the same page. That's a big deal to me. Also, does the iphone4 play HQ youtube videos?

I guess animation popping out is cool but not as important as I originally thought... now that I'm surfing without it until the Froyo upgrade comes out this month.

Too many options now. I miss the good old days where the phone to get was obvious LOL. Part of me wants to take this back, cancel and buy one of those crap phones at wallmart and pay $45 for unlimited everything, no contract and call it a day LOL

HD on a small screen like that is kind of meaningless.  As the size decreases, the resolution increases so you dont' really need HD on a tiny screen.  It's more important when you're watching it full screen on a computer, or at least bigger than phone size.  At least that's my impression.

But really, I wouldn't worry about that stuff, I mean it sounds cool to be watching videos on your phone, but I don't really do it that much.  Surfing the web on the phone is really annoying too and I don't do it, I just wait to go home unless it's something I want to look up.

so I'd go with the UI that you like better, and then know that all the features you get are already way more than you could ever need...

Finally decided to exchange for the iPhone 4. At first, I was wondering if I made a mistake. That extra 1/2" of screen makes a pretty significant difference. The IP4 screen looks dull and lackluster in comparison. However the incredible resolution makes reading easier on my eyes and Apple's intuitive OS oozes refinement and quality. I'd say these phones are almost dead even.

However, the build quality and polish of the iPhone wins out in the end. That being said, if you get the Captivate, you are not settling for second best.

Just wanted to follow up in case this might help someone make this difficult decision. I've owned both these past few weeks, so feel free to PM me if you have question. I'm a fan of both of these phones. No bias here.

Can you verify for us if Captivate still has the GPS issues we were talking about on the previous page, or is it working perfectly now?

My Captivate GPS never really worked. Froyo 2.2 is due out soon. The assumption is that it will have a fix along with speeding up the device. It was due out this month but the lady at the AT&T store said December.

I'm pretty confident they will have a fix. AT&T needs this Droid to work since they may lose exclusive rights to the iPhone.

Ah OK, thanks. I guess I'll just wait until Froyo comes out, then.

UPDATE:

So I came across a nice deal on the Captivate, and got myself one. I've had it for about 3 days and so far, I absolutely love it. "Angry Brids" ftw!

I have yet to root it or even update to froyo, but I did install ATT's patch and it seems to have fixed my GPS. I can locate myself on the map, but I have yet to try out the voice over turn-by-turn directions.
