Most of the Head-fi sponsors that carry headphones (e.g. Todd, Headroom, Meier Audio, see bottom of any head-fi page) can price match the prices of any authorized dealer if lower than theirs. Also, Headroom and Todd both currently have 10% discounts.

The best price I found in Audioadvisor.com (not a sponsor), because I got a special deal by ordering at the same time a headphone amp that the sponsors don't carry. But Audioadvisor doesn't have them in stock right now, they are arriving by the end of February, so you would need to wait.

I would suggest go to Audioadvisor and click on the "Email me today's price". Forward that email to any of the sponsors that carry the 650's and you should get that price they give you matched. As a matter of fact, today that price is less than what I paid for in my special deal, so I might do yet another order cancelling and reordering

Man that's really the very lowest I've seen though. Wonder if that's an authorized Sennheiser dealer.

Edit: However, if that store doesn't have free shipping, Audioadvisor's quote will be less in the end

I can't say enough good things about HeadRoom. Even if the price is a bit higher the customer service they have given me would be worth every last penny in my book.

They are truly a great bunch of people. If I want something and they carry it, I will buy it from them.

I would prefer to order from AA myself, but do you know how long they'll accept the ecost.com $339 quote? Because they're out of stock of the hd650s at the moment. Or will they accept this quote?

oddball,

depends who you talk to. Some of their sales people are apparantly desperate and willing to see your buisness. I like AA alot. I think they are the best bet.

HeadRoom is overpriced, and they take too long to reply to emails. I tried going to them for my 650s, but they didn't play ball : P

AA will not honor it:
(snippets from my online conversation with their CSR):

Quote:

02/12/2004 05:28:18PM Message Sent CSR "price is 374.99"
02/12/2004 05:28:46PM Message Sent CUS "are you still matching ecost's
price of $339.99?"
02/12/2004 05:29:12PM Message Sent CSR "let me check"
02/12/2004 05:32:23PM Message Sent CSR "they show a price of 449.00"
02/12/2004 05:32:31PM Message Sent CSR "even when I put it in the cart"
02/12/2004 05:35:14PM Message Sent CSR "Sennheiser's sales police has
cleaned up the pricing"
02/12/2004 05:36:02PM Message Sent CSR "yes..the Sennheiser pricing
structure has changed..sorry"
02/12/2004 05:36:36PM Message Sent CSR "Technically, they can't tell us to
sell it at a certain price"
02/12/2004 05:36:50PM Message Sent CSR "but they "suggest" things...lol"

ahh well.

I guess i got in while the getting-in was good. I saw they raised their pride for the hd600s. Whatever is going on with the pricing on senns nowadays is screwy, i'm sure some vendors still have the 180ish price.

Sennheiser sales police??? Scary...

True, AA has a lower and better price. Now if they'd only get it in stock!
