Just like the title states. Whats the best headphone and amp combo will yield the best listening experience? I like listening to alternative, hiphop and classical.

Ok here is a list of ideas for your reference:
 
Sony PHA-1 ($350, DAC/AMP) + Sony MDR-1R ($200)
JDS Labs C5 ($190, AMP only) + V-MODA M-100 ($310) or Sennheiser Momentum ($350)
Headamp Pico Slim ($400, AMP only) + Audio Technica ATH-M50 ($160)
Various FiiO DAC/AMP (under $200) + headphones at $400 level.
 
My point is that it is better to spend more on a good set of headphones than spending all the money on a DAC/AMP at this point.  The best combo in my option will be the PHA-1 + the M-100 or Momentum, but it will be over budget for you.  However, I tested it and I can promise you that you will not regret it.

Why buy an amp if you don't need one? Momentum sounds really good w/o one.
