Well, Dubstep includes mids and treble, and all of the headphones that have massive bass lack the mids and the trebles, as far as I know.

So basically you're looking for a well balanced flat sounding pair ? Try DT770 pros or COPs.

But the only way to achieve in your face bowel hitting bass is by recessing those mids and highs. So if you want mids and highs there's a tradeoff.

This. At least for any headphones in your budget. Expand your budget!

So what would be the pair of (bass) headphones that have the most bass that doesn't recess the mids and treble? $100-$230 range. Again, great for Dubstep and Trap.

Well, in that range, I would just recommend the next steps-up from the Crossfade LP, the Crossfade LP2 and the M-80. Since your recent experience with V-Moda was sub-par, MOAR MONEYS! I wish I could recommend the Denon D2000, but now that they're discontinued, it's hard to find them online for anywhere near their original price. Maybe you could find a sub-$300 pair in the Head-Fi classifieds?

Oh, you may like the Beyerdynamic DT 990 (250 Ohm version). They can be had for $180, but they'll need an amp. A little V-shaped (sounding), but might do the trick for you.

Well, the M-80's would pretty much be wiped off the cutting board, since I'm NOT a fan on On-Ears or In-Ears :p What I'm interested in is how much better, in specific areas, are the Crossfade LP2's better than the LP's?

Also, what would an 80ohm headphone sound like?

I have the DT990pro (250ohm). I can tell you honestly that they sound like crap connected directly to my MBP (too bight, no bass, no punch). But when properly amped it's wonderful with electronic music.

What would that pair of cans sound like un-amped?

Not good. I lived with the dt990 pro for a while and found that the difference between playing them with my fiio e17 and clip zip was big. I would love to try them again with my tube amp. I'm going suggest the hfi2400 because it has great highs and bass. If you listen to a lot of vocalists though it won't cut it because the hfi2400 tend to smother vocals, sounds like its playing through a blanket. Why not try the Sony xb500 or xb700?

I might add the DT990 to my list. Also, are you saying that even in vocals for Dubstep, the HFI-2400 will smother them?

DT 990 and a good amp will leave you EXTREMELY satisfied. But don't take my word for it, I've already mislead you once :p And the LP2s are pretty much a straight up improvement over the original LP. More detail, better soundstage, etc. No drastic change in sound signature though. Coming up with a DT 990 rig for you right now.

How about the DT 990 Pro 250 with the Fiio E09k?

Of course, this would be a desktop setup. If you need portability or need to save money, you could go with the Fiio E07k or E17. The E09k is the cheapest option, but I've never used it so I have no idea of how well it will handle the power-hungry DT 990. But maybe you get that and use it for a while, and upgrade to a better amp later? All of the ones I recommended are amp/dac combos, having a DAC in the mix is a good idea :)

Alright, that might be a good idea. Also, does the sound leak with the DT990s?
