The Grado SR 225i has good bass, but it's not for bassheads.  The problem for you is that is open and leaks a great deal.

Yes that is a big problem for me. It is just for home usage. So SR 225 is out of the picture.

In the U.S. the closed Shure SRH 840 is about the same price as the M50.  It's more balanced--has great mids and a mid bass hump.  Originally it cost almost twice as much as the M50.  It's a better choice if you want a balanced sound--if you can get it.

My first selection was SRH 840 because, as you said, it is more balanced. But I just can't find it in Turkey. My cousin is going to Paris a couple of week later. Maybe he can find it. But he will be staying there just for a day (he is going for a congress).

What about HFI-580 and HD 25. Do they leak much.

No they don't. If you're gonna use it outside grados might be a bad idea. You'll definitely want a closed phone IMO.

Although lately I don't care much for headfonia, this article seems to mirror the thoughts of most people here.

No doubt that most folks here have problems with statements like this:

"If the midrange is just average on the Shures, the M-50 has a much more seductive, fuller bodied, and smooth midrange."

hd25-1 seems to be a good choice for rock music according to that review.

You can try the GMP 8.35... I prefer them over the HFI-580/M50.

It is a bit too expensive for my budget.
