I would also recommend checking out the ilounge forums. I believe they also found a program that would be able to convert files to the ipod format, plus this one's free!
The reason I like pqdvd so much is because it is one step and mindless to use. You just boot up the DVD using the program. It takes exactly as long to convert as the length of the DVD. Afterwards you are left with an MPEG4 of the video on your desktop. It's also super easy to set the audio and video quality as well as crop the DVD if you want. Only thing is to make sure that you have a trial or regualr version of powerdvd 6.0 or it won't run.
