Hi,

I hope some my fellow head-Fi-ers can help me out with this one:
I'll be buying either a pair of Grado SR-325i or RS-2i in the next couple of weeks and would like some suggestions for a good amp for under $500.00.
Both Solid State and Tubes amps are under consideration.

Thanks,
Chris

The dynalo circuit is the best in your price range. It was designed for Grados by Kevin Gilmore, the most prolific headamp designer. Sold for years as the "Gilmore Lite" by Headamp but discontinued. You can buy one from Sheer Audio online, or you can build one yourself from plans on Headwize.

Yup pretty dang good!

I switched to using the HDP though full-time, I liked it so much I bought some extras hehe :)

Um I like how you can swap the opamps to the various models they have to change the final tone though, that amp has a LOT of power also!

Thanks!
Why did you switch to the HDP over the M Stage?

M Stage puts out a LOT of power. It does it very cleanly and it's a solid option for 300ohm headphones like HD600 or ones that need a buttload of current like K701 or HE-5 but as a predominantly Grado listener I just listen through the HDP at 9-oclock (the knob starts at 6) and just leave it there.

Also the M-Stage is nice and compact but the Mini-i that feeds it, is really not. I will miss the remote though haha.
