I'm a fan of Sir Colin Davis' recording with the LSO. Ben Heppner and Michelle DeYoung are the principles.
Not only is it a great performance, it's cheap. And when you're looking at a 4-disc set, that is a welcome relief.
Davis recorded this earlier (Vickers was the tenor), but my rec was recorded in 2000.
