Is this all headphones in general, or more Ultrasone S-Logic in particular?

i don't think it works on grados (opposite actually, the sound becomes brighter as you move it closer to the back of your head) but it does work with the senns that have E.A.R (senns angled drivers) they became much brighter as the headphones are moved to the back of your head and more warm as you push it forwards.

I was speaking of the Ultrasones specifically, but it will often make the sound brighter as you move the headphone backward if the drivers are angled.

I'd say it's Ultrasone specific. Did the same thing with the Pro 900 and 2900. I would rather not own them than have to worry about finicky head placement.

What a great job!!! The best, most detailed and most complete headphones review I've ever read. Can I ask a question? Maybe someone asked here before - but haven't time to read everything. You said HD800 require very careful choice of amp. What do you suggest and what worked best for you? I've just bought Sennheiser a couple days ago and now try them at my old Perreaux sxh2 on my desktop. But thinking for upgrade for another room in the future. What would be the best choice? I have the very close mucis preferences with you.

I heard the hd800 of a friend with the violectric v200 for a while and it paired perfectly. It paired horribly with my 337 though. Which in turn pairs perfectly with my he500's..lucky me :D

there are far more important factors in sound reproduction before sub-90Hz volumes.
just listen to a piano or listen to a gitar or a violin, after that you will understand what I mean about musicality.

Grados have their strengths. The RS1s have some of the best timbre out there. But that said, transparent and true to the recording they ain't.

+1. It would be really awesome to see how some of the mod community's 'flagships' stack up against the rest.
