Let me start all over again. I don't mean modding the transport in anyway. What I was wondering if anybody replaced the current power supply with one that they built (DIY) using batteries to supply the current to the Wadia. CI Audio has one, but $300.
I had my RWA Isabellina HPA modded to get power out of it and power the 170i concurrently. Another option would be Tekkeon myPower: Tekkeon - myPower ALL, MP3300/MP3400/MP3450
My stock Wadia AC Power adapter died and I used an external power supply without any problems while waiting for the replacement AC Adapter from Wadia.
Both of my portable "made in China" sealed lead batteries (Vision CP 12120 12V 12AH/CP 1270 12V 7.0 AH) from Center Power Tech Co.LTD worked quite well.
I used the cable and plug that came with the now dead power adapter and connected the two leads from the cable to the positive and negative terminals of the batteries.
