Hi,
 
My nephew - who just started college is looking for bassy earbuds for use with iPod for RAP and similar bass heavy music ...
Would appreciate recommendations ... price $60 +/- new or used ...

Not only slightly bass heavy, but a great IEM.
 
The Maximo iMetal iM590 is also another great sounding and bass heavy IEM.  You can find them for $50.
 
The M2 is far better, but the iM590 is slightly less expensive.

Sony EX510, EX310 are very good sounding IEMs with great bass response and wide soundstage(XB40EX recommended too).

Any reco for ear-bud style - like the original apple earbuds - my nephew prefers the ear buds - I bought Yuin OK2 (or was it PK2?) for him - he loves them but would like more bass for Rap and other bass heavy music ...
 
I have sent the reco for Brainwavz M2 and Monster ... Sony I think is more geared towards audiophile community (somthing I would consider)

How about the Klipsch S4/i?
Their bass quantity is ridiculous (in my opinion, I'm no basshead) and should satisfy every bass-lover's needs.
