There are too many choices!!! I need good over ear headphones with copious amounts of bass that don't drown out mids and highs!!!! $200 budget
 
all i care about is quality and the look hardly matters.
i would like them to be to be at least somewhat comfortable but i am willing to make sacrifices for great sound!
i'm not interested in beats so please do not mention them.
here is the list of cans i have heard of and are considering:
 
Sony XB500, XB700
Audio Technica ath-ws55, ath-ws70, ath-m50
V-moda Crossfade Lp2
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros (if can be found at $200 somewhere)

A good alternative that fits your budget well are the M-audio Q40's. They handle bass heavy tracks well (even if you increase bass with Eq they will be fine) while maintaining good sound quality.

^^ the Q40's are a good suggestion. If you can find a used pair of denon d2k here and could get them around the $200 mark, that would also be a good choice.

DT 770s can be found for substantially less on the Internet.  I think you can get them for around $160 if you do a little looking around cougheBaycough.

The cord on the M40's is detachable, yes.

JVC HA-S500 with the HM5 pad mod (makes them over ear) and tape mod (insanely boosts the bass)!!!!!!
