I have found the HD650 in sydney for A$590, which seems a pretty good price, but that is the absolute lowest they will go. But they did say if more than one pair is ordered the price will be better.
If anyone is interested maybe we could get some deal from them.
That's a pretty good price. If you buy from headroom with the 10% head-fi discount, the price is US$400 or AU$540. Add shipping and you're up to AU$590.

I wish I'd known about the <$590 price. The lowest I was quoted in Sydney was $722, and that was only because I knew the dealer well and had bought a lot of other things from them. The other prices I was quoted were $1000, which is the recommended retail, but which of course is waaaay overpriced.
I ended up ordering from Jan Meier at US$380 (plus the Oehlbach cable - nowhere near as good as the Cardas cable), and the 650s arrived this week. Great headphones, but so far only a marginal improvement on the 600s. In fact the Cardas vs stock cable vs Oehlbach cable made a bigger difference than the 650s vs 600s (I also have two pairs of 600s and two cardas cables).

I've always wondered whether they charge the Euro amount or the USD amount, because the conversion rate is different and makes a difference to the final amount that we have to pay. I guess that's a question to ask them.
Yeah exactly I wasn't sure, anyway now after talking with Wickidelectrical for 5 mins trying to prove that i could get the 650's for $590 they agreed to do $575 so i think i'm going to go pick up a pair on monday.
Huzzah.
Which will mean i've spent 1000 on headphones in 2 weeks!!!
People are suffering from laziness again... it's all on their site.

From the meier-audio site:
Senn HD 650
EUR 325,- / $ 380 outside European Community
EUR 375,- / $ 440 inside European Community
Using the currency convertor at http://xe.com
EUR325 = US$401
EUR375= US$462
So if i've interpreted the numbers correctly, people who buy using the US$ price are getting a better deal than people who buy in Euro. People inside Euroland are getting ripped as well.
I like a man who drives a hard bargan. Let us know how you go. I also want to hear what you think of them compared to your Beyers.
And I know this if off thread but my next potential item is either a SACD player or the NAD 542. Did you drive the retailers nuts and get Australia's best price on the NAD? If so let me know where to go (if you have weakened them they might still be reeling).
