Speaking of experts... If anyone builds one of these in the next few days, please post pics of your builds. It can help to give people ideas of how things can be done differently or more efficiently.

What are Silpads? I assume these have something to do with the Mosfets? I haven't used Mosfets before... got any advice for a newbie?

Oh, the other thing I was curious about is the heatsinks. How do people usually attach/secure these to their case?

I didn't measure anything, it's all just eyeballed. It accepts my RCA cables though, so I'm happy.

I like the DIY feel of your amp. Not measuring definitely helps with that vibe!

Pics never hurt! A shot from above and a 45° elevation is a good way to do it.

I haven't read the main thread in a while, I might make sure to do that before I get stuck into the build.

Silpads (silicone pads) are a grease-free alternative to the clear mica washers used to electrically insulate the transistors from the heatsinks. They go on like double-sided tape.

I secured my heatsinks by drilling holes for the mounting pins and gluing the sinks down with plenty of Araldite. The pins are designed for soldering, but my iron doesn't have enough power to solder down a heat sink.

The glue seems fine. If you were paranoid you might consider using a specialised high-temp epoxy.

I reckon this is a good project to try yourself, why not give it a go and ask for help if you need it.

Well, the GB has been and gone. It happened back in June/July, I missed it by a week then. If you don't have parts you may have trouble finding the tubes as a lot of tube dealers have since sold out of them. You could contact n_maher I think regarding tubes. I think it was nick that had bought up a lot of the remaining tubes available to pass on to Millet SS DIYers.
