This is a fact I've always been well aware of, even before I had fancy (relative) headphones.

However, being a gamer I think I'm pretty much held hostage to using Creative cards. That said, would any of their newer offerings be a worthwhile upgrade on the gaming AND music front over my current Audigy 1? Or is it much like I figured I should just invest in a DAC instead and not waste any more money on this uninnovative company w/ their wretched drivers and substandard hardware. (Forgive me if I sound bitter.)
