Sorry I meant 2016 but it was a fairly well-known upgrade. It was mentioned in this article:

Ok, I have an earlier version of the XC's. I did read that they got a significant upgrade in the 2016 model but didn't know about the LC filter. That would mean that the newer XC's acts more as a dynamic headphone, which changes impedance with frequency, rather than a planar which has (normally) constant impedance.

I finally made the purchase today for the questyle 800i. I was sleeping on the idea with the 600i but splurged the extra cash and got the 800. To be honest I liked the idea of having a balanced jack but I don't use a balanced cable. I hear the 3's and the XC's are a good pairing with the amp. Hopefully it works will keep you posted

Finally a Questyle product that meets Audeze power recommendations for LCD. However I would not expect the full benefits of the current mode amp from the XC due to the LC filter in those headphones.

I dunno these current mode amps sound great but none of them have much output, even the mighty Bakoon HPA-21 has only 1 watt @ 50 ohms. I think if you are not a total metal head you won't need to play it that loud. @SomeGuyDude loves his Questyle but he doesn't play it very loud because of his tinnitus. For me, I always buy more power than I need. That's why I get so many tickets.

I'm not the tinnitus guy, but I admit I'm surprised at how low the volume can be and it still pushes the LCD-3 to high-ass volume. It does, however, need to go up to damn near 75% for my HD-650.

There's a reason I wear earplugs to metal shows, I don't want hearing damage, haha.

Same, Primus and Mastodon were in town a few weeks back, an outdoor show, and I still wore my earplugs.
Ever since seeing Obituary and Fear Factory at a small club show in the early 90's and having my ears ring for literally 2 weeks, I figured it would be a good time to start. And with a good set of musicians earplugs, you don't miss much of anything.
Sorry to kinda derail, now back on track, lol.

Got the Questyle CMA600i finally. Can confirm it sounds great. Definitely a step up from my Corda Classic.

Now I gotta try this 600i + Chord Mojo or Hugo as the DAC combo that a few people have been hyping around here

I got to hear the LCD-4 and Utopia over the weekend.

Amazing, yes, but I prefer the LCD-3's smoothness and warmth. :D

I've never heard LCD4s but continue to enjoy my LCD3s. As stated, there is a smoothness and warmth that is surely not neutral but very engaging. I have considered the LCD4s but I wonder if I would feel the same way. I don't see myself getting LCD4s until I'm in a position to own both. I'm afraid I would really miss the LCD3s if I had to sell them to get LCD4s.

I found the 4s to have artificially shimmery highs. And this was from the most amazing and expensive DAC and Amp money can buy
