Just such a sandwich FIIO M11 Plus Ltd and A&K PA10 I have is a great set - it is worth buying.
Necessary and recommended balanced connection.

This is the most correct warning.
When you change in DAP on the output "PO" to "LO" in the latter the signal is set to maximum.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the new Astell & Kern SE300 yet, which also has a class A amplifier.
How different is this SE300 sound from my FIIO M11 Plus Ltd sandwich with A&K PA10?

For people who have not had contact with the DAC and listen to music only from phones above $ 1000-1500, I suggest listening to the most famous and liked music on my "sandwich - in fact it is not mobile" .... this is how it changes them attitude towards listening to music from smartphones diametrically

I’d refer to @123peter for his actual experience with the M11 and PA10. Sounds like he’s had a good experience utilizing BAL. End of the day, I use my DAPs/PA10 with all my headphones (IEM’s and Over ear) when at home. Was hands down worth it to me.

Hi guys my SR35 arrived 2 hours ago.
So far very impressive.
Set up even for a stupid old fart like me was pain free.
Had Qobuz playing in under 10 mins.

I don’t find the dap slow or laggy.
It’s tiny compared to the PA10.
Sound wise it’s a lovely pairing.

For a decent 4.4mm cable that’s very well priced check out Sky Audio cables.

I purchase a 4.4mm to 4.4mm on Amazon (youkamoo) for $22. No issues. iFi is your safest bet.

Just make sure you get 4.4 to 4.4. You have to use the same output as input with PA10.

And to the set, these Sennheiser headphones, write something, probably many are interested in whether the PA10 can handle such flagship full-size and demanding headphones at such an impedance.

Now if it’s as much low end as some people would like is a different thing?
Please take into account the dap is only a few hours old with me.
I purchased the dap from fleebay.
The seller said it had only done 18 hours play time.
I have been very lucky with the PA10 and SR35 both considerably under retail price.

They pair very well and if the SR 35 has a kind of Ronald smile sound sig and the PA10 a slight tailoring off at the top end when paired it’s lovely.

I’m sat here with a massive smile on my face listening .

Yes AK made these to gel and it shows.
Very mature sound.
Black background lots air with out being analytical.

I was worried about the SR35 being too plinky plonky audiophile and failing at being musical.
Well I need not have worried.

A surprising amount of slam and weight .

So far very happy with both.

The PA10 takes AKs baby player and gives its some balls .

Try out the SR35 with the PA10 at a dealer if you can?

AK have done a great job of a very small every day carry dap and at home with the PA10 a mini desktop rig.

Do you use the 800s headphones in the balanced version? - if not, be sure to do it.
Without "gain" in the AP10, what percentage of the volume do you use on the knob and it's already loud 50, 70%? (I don't know how you like to listen?)

Yes in balanced.
I’m on 4volt line out from the dap.
High gain on the amp and about that o’clock.
So no where near half way

Must say the AK T5p 2nd generation sound good as well.

Received my PA10 a couple of hours ago. Purchased as open box from authorized dealer. My setup is AK SR35 connected by Ifi 4.4mm cable to PA10 to Fir KR5. Supposedly this unit was out only for less than a week. Out of the box a little disappointing. With the KR5s there is an audible noise floor. Started out at 4V line out and now down to 1.4V on low gain and still have a noticeable noise floor. Also the high registers seem definitely muted. Do not think many hours were put on the unit since it was out for only a week. Does all this get better with use? I did not expect the audible noise floor especially since this is all AK.

If I’m not mistaken, Astell & Kern warns you may hear a slight noise floor with sensitive IEM’s due to the crossfeed function but state it will not affect audio during playback.
