I had the chance to compare the AK300 and AK320 with my AK380Cu and AK240 this weekend. Not only are the 300 and 320 vastly inferior to the AK380Cu, to my surprise, they are also inferior to the AK240, in terms of warmth and soundstage - 320 may have a bit more details but overall sound quality still cannot match AK240. My question is: why would A&K make such products - bigger size, worse sound, but more expensive? I can totally justify AK380Cu (but not AK380), but definitely not AK300 and AK320. Their pricing and product line are all messed up.

I don´t own any AK stuff, but I notice this trend with other gear, too. Seems like some companies have decided to adjust their sound signatures more and more towards "digital" than the warm and airy sound of "analogue". I think it´s sad, but who can blame them? The biggest percentage of buyers these days grew up with listening to MP3 and the like.... For an old guy like me (45 this year) it´s very disheartening to see it going in that direction.

Now that pound and sterling plummeted  - maybe it's time to consider some serious Chord or dCS gear.

The only reason is that they are made to fit the amp - but the AK amp is mediocre at best anyways, so why get a bigger size player just for the sake of fitting it with a mediocre amp? LOL.

That's good news. I've tried contacting them a few times with no answer. Glad they took care of you!
